Office of Faculty Affairs Program Fellows
The Office of Faculty Affairs seeks two or more faculty members to serve as Program Fellows for an initial term that extends through May 2026, with the potential to extend the term by one additional year. The Program Fellows will work with OFA on designing and delivering faculty development programming. The goal of the Program Fellows initiative is to:
- Enrich the development of the KU faculty community through innovative and evidence-based programs
- Broaden OFA’s impact and collaborations across the KU community
- Grow and develop academic leadership at KU
- Support Program Fellows in their professional growth
In particular, OFA has an interest in Fellows who will help support our work in the following four core areas: mentoring training (student mentoring and/or faculty mentoring), new faculty career development, and programming for faculty who serve in supervising roles. This work may include but is not limited to program development grounded in research related to faculty development priority areas, delivery of related programming, and facilitation of OFA program sessions, workshops, and faculty learning circles.
The Program Fellows will serve an initial term that begins January 1, 2025, and extends through May 18, 2026. Upon mutual agreement, the Program Fellow term may be extended for one additional year. Program Fellows’ responsibilities will be based on the Fellows’ background, interests, and experiences as well as the specific faculty development programming needs in the Office of Faculty Affairs.
Expectations, Compensation, and Time Commitment
Program Fellows are expected to actively participate in OFA programs (e.g., faculty development sessions and workshops, faculty learning circles, New Faculty Orientation), contribute to the New Faculty Foundations program, and provide insight and support across OFA faculty development initiatives.
The time commitment of each fellow will vary during a given semester, with some weeks requiring more or less engagement depending on the time of year. The estimated time commitment for a Program Fellow should be on average about four to five hours per week. This time commitment will vary somewhat during a given semester, depending on the Fellows’ responsibilities and OFA activities. Program fellows will meet monthly with OFA staff to ensure progress on program goals. Training and resources will be provided.
Program Fellows meeting terms of service will receive as compensation $3,750 (gross), disbursed in two overload payments as follows: $1,250 at the end of the spring 2025 semester, and $2,500 at the end of the spring 2026 semester. In addition, Program Fellows will receive a $1,500 travel and/or professional expense budget during each academic year in which they serve, preferably to support advancements in faculty development.
