Office of Faculty Affairs to Host KU Faculty Development Academies in May

The Office of Faculty Affairs invites all University of Kansas (KU) Lawrence and Edwards faculty to join us for the KU Faculty Development Academies week, scheduled for the week of May 13, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily. The Academies held Monday through Thursday will take place in the Jayhawk Room of Kansas Memorial Union. Our Academy held on Friday will be hosted in the 1502 Building, located on the corner of Bob Billing and Iowa Street.

Each day of Academies week features KU experts, providing interactive programming focused on a specific topic. Topics for the week include:

Faculty are welcome to register for as many dates as they are interested in attending. Registration is available at this link. A light breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided each day.

Academies week provides the opportunity to delve deep and develop a core capacity in a chosen area. Participants should expect to gain knowledge and skills in the topic, and tangible tools they can reference throughout their career. “We are excited to create an opportunity for all faculty to join together and to spend the week focused on topics of specific interest to them,” said Associate Vice Provost Mary Banwart. “In these sessions, faculty will not only learn best practices and gain new resources, but also engage with one another in a dynamic space that includes breakout activities, case studies, and knowledge sharing through peer engagement. We continue to hear that faculty would like opportunities to grow their knowledge, skills, and capacities in areas central to their work, and we are excited to showcase the expertise on campus in that mission.”
