Policy Alignment Resources

Suggested Policy Alignment Timeline
Within one year, all unit and university policies must align with the finalized collective bargaining agreement. The deadline for compliance is April 15, 2027. This suggested timeline is intended to help units space out policy submissions, giving units, governance, and policy administrators the time needed to review, approve, and accurately publish faculty policy documents.
OCTOBER 15, 2026: ANNUAL EVALUATIONS
Unit policies must align with annual evaluations defined in Article 17 (Evaluations) and Article 20 (Compensation) as well as the KBOR policy manual Chapter II, section A. 12.c (Annual Evaluation).

DECEMBER 1, 2026: PROMOTION & TENURE AND PROGRESS TOWARDS TENURE REVIEW
Unit policies must align with updated promotion & tenure requirements in Article 19, and progress towards tenure review requirements in Article 17.3 of the contract.
*DEADLINE IS ADJUSTED TO FEBRUARY 1, 2027, FOR UNITS UNDERGOING ACADEMIC PROGRAM REVIEW*

JANUARY 15, 2027: COMPREHENSIVE, PROMOTION & POST-PROMOTION REVIEW FOR INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY AND/OR UNCLASSIFIED ACADEMIC STAFF (UAS)
Unit policies must align with updated periodic review requirements in Article 17 of the contract if they include instructional and/or unclassified academic staff.

FEBRUARY 15, 2027: POST TENURE REVIEW
Unit policies must align with the updated post-tenure review found in Articles 17 and 18 of the contract.

MARCH 15, 2027: WORKLOAD
Unit policies must align with updated workload requirements in Article 16 of the contract.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Some units may also need to update their Grievance policy to align with Article 22.
Each unit should incorporate the eligibility and distribution of budgeted funds to support professional development, including any application and decision-making process for professional development funds that are awarded competitively, within unit-level policies.
